WireShark Installation

Step 1: Open the Terminal

The first step is to open the terminal on your Linux distribution. You can usually find this by searching for “Terminal” in your applications.

Step 2: Update Your Package List

Before you install Wireshark, you’ll want to make sure your package list is up to date. Type in the following command to update your package list:

sudo apt-get update

Step 3: Install Wireshark

Next, type in the following command to install Wireshark:

sudo apt-get install wireshark

You will be given the option to enable packet capture for non-superusers throughout the installation procedure. Choose “Yes” and press Enter to allow non-superusers to record packets. If not, choose “No.”

Step 4: Launch Wireshark

After the installation is finished, use the following command to launch Wireshark:

sudo wireshark

You can start capturing and analyzing network traffic after Wireshark has started.
